🧱 Blocking
IntermediateBlock
Jumping at the net with arms raised to stop or deflect the opponent’s attack. A "stuff" block sends the ball straight back down for a point.

🪜 Step by step
- Stand an arm’s length from the net, hands up at shoulder height.
- Read the setter, then watch the hitter’s approach.
- Jump just after the hitter jumps (later for quick attacks).
- Push your hands over the net, fingers spread, thumbs up, and press the hands forward and down.
- Land on both feet and turn to transition.
🗣️ Coaching cues
“Eyes: setter → ball → hitter”“Penetrate over the net”“Strong hands, sealed to the net”
⚠️ Common mistakes
- Swinging the arms into the net
- Jumping too early
- Reaching outside the body line (ball goes through the gap)
🏋️ Drills
- Block jumps with a coach on a box hitting
- Footwork + block along the net
