What is a free ball?
A free ball is an easy ball sent over the net without an attack — usually a pass or a soft hit because the team couldn’t set up a spike.
The receiving team calls "Free!", front-row players drop back off the net to prepare their approach, and the team passes it high to the setter for an easy attack.
