Is tipping legal?

Yes, indoors. A tip is a soft push with the fingertips over or around the block. It’s legal as long as the ball is cleanly hit, not caught or thrown.

In beach volleyball, open-hand tips are not allowed — players use the knuckles or a closed hand ("poke").
